Yorke Peninsula to Copper Coast to Crystal Creek

Today – Wednesday, we moved on to complete the Yorke Peninsula.  The bad roads continued and then we entered the Copper Coast area.  Port Broughton had a brilliant water play park for the children at the end of the caravan park which was next to the beach (looked tidal) and a lot of the mansions on the beachfront looked similar to those you would find along the coastlines in Perth except here they had mega staircases to get up to the front of the house!...Heart attack material for sure!

Lots of country towns we visited across the east are suffering like those we have visited in WA – the loss of banks, businesses and people means they lose the value in their homes and have no other option other than to stay, or leave, commit to work into their 70s or 80s to pay off another mortgage and hope they can survive it all.

Lots of places were run by volunteers from trains to information centres and other sites

including shops!

Not everyone can live in cities, especially if you consider that country towns are where the farmers live.  We need to collectively put our heads together to try and find some solutions to the problem other than buy local.  All communities need to have regular injections of funds not from their own community.  At least worthwhile for the  town needs to find ways and means to invite city dwellers to come and visit for unique experiences, that are affordable, but worthwhile for the vendor and each town needs to find one or more things (maybe four events per year)…depending on the value of the dollar they bring in – to ensure viability on an annual basis and one sure to attract a huge crown=d that can be catered for from units, to caravan camper accommodation, as well as food, drinks and entertainment value.

I would not visit the Yorke Peninsula again and feel unless you want to see what it entails from the walk/ ride the whole coast aspect, the farming or fishing available, the most interesting thing we found was where farmers were putting in crops on the long paddocks and very successfully!!!!!  Wonder if it is free, a donation to the local council or school or a lease agreement with the shire?
