Swan Hill

Swan Hill

We arrived at Swan Hill after a few little detours after leaving Echuca visiting places like Pyramid Hill and other Lakeside resort towns along the way which were huge, such as the Catalina Museum and lakeside Museum.

Swan Hill apparently has less than fifteen thousand people but appears much larger due to the number of businesses in the city type environs with shops spanning two to four blocks, with every business you could think of.

Swan Hill is on the banks of the Murray River and the Railway line is alongside which you can catch to go to Melbourne in three and a half hours!

The Big 4 Caravan Park offered special discounts for a Paddle Steamer Ride, Pioneer Park tour and Laser Light show in the evening.  You could also get discount of four nights for the price of three which we decided to take after we looked around and saw what was on offer!

Even houses here are relatively cheap – one house here for 165K for 3 bed 2 bath!  So if you want to visit the Murray, travel on a paddle steamer and even go to Melbourne for a night or two, come and visit Swan Hill.  The people are friendly and helpful and the town is lovely and clean.  Lots of cafes, restaurants and even live entertainment of travelling shows on a monthly basis! Mind you, we went past the Murray River Station original mansion now privately owned!
