Hopetoun to Horsham
Hopetoun to
Horsham
We have
taken the day to slowly explore further the Silo Art Trail which first began in
Brim in 2015 painted by Guido van Helten and more artists followed his lead and
joined in the quest to depict aspects of small communities along the Wimmera
area. Brim is adjacent to the
Yarriambiack Creek which every town we came to seemed to be lucky enough to
have as a special feature in their town – some utilized brilliantly and
promoted to tourists. Brim also was
where the first million dollar bale of super fine wool was grown by the
Appledores.
So today we
toured through Lascelles where the Silo
art was completed by artist Rone. We visited
the lake Lascelles at Hopetoun, which is
lovely, then Rosebery where the silo art
was completed by Kaff Eine. Then there
was Brim, depicting generations of farming families; then we visited Warracknabeal, followed by
Sheep Hills which featured four local Indigenous persons; then Rupanyup painted
by Julia Volchkova featuring youth of sporting games.
We then
moved on to Murtoa which had a lake in the town, with caravan park on the
water, a walking track around the lake and all sports venues at hand. A lovely place to visit! We then headed for Horsham and we have now
parked at the caravan park on the route to the Grampians.
