Buddy
Today we
acquired our first pet companion since 1993 as we felt we may have been missing
out on something special due to observations of the significant number of
fellow nomads travelling with one or more of their felines, canines or
birds! Therefore, today we made an indulgent choice and welcomed
Buddy to the van where he will be our loyal and lovable companion for the rest
of our journey!
The
greatest part about Buddy is that he meets all our requirements in that barking
is not an option and neither is being dangerous to children or other fellow
travellers; There is no allowance to create more housework by shedding hair –
especially as we lack a vacuum cleaner; we did not want to have to carry doggy
bag portions from every restaurant or fast food place we patronize – that is if
the MOTH deigned to contribute a reasonable share of leftovers at any given
time!; nor do we want to have to further fill any available space with doggy
doo bags; We thought as health care is
too
expensive for us, we also considered it fair not have to fund any medical
expenses for our adoptee, so no medications, inoculations or shire chips are
necessary, and fleas are definitely a no-no in our van or near us! Our grocery bills can still meet our fortnightly
budget as we will not be required to feed him and he is not requiring parental
responsibility for training for any purpose, place or situation as he is fully
accredited and quality assured by RP Cummings -child behaviour expert!
So….. keep
an eye out for Bart’s Buddy – he may be like Where’s Wally – see if you can
spot him in our snaps! He did visit the famous Finley bakery to try and
purchase their award winning vanilla slices – but they had sold out! He also admired some amazing art creations
using farmyard junk around Lockhart, the Town of Verandahs – which was lovely
to visit. Buddy loves to sneak out of
the van when he can and he seems to have
quickly developed the ability to insert himself in photo shoots while we are
unaware!
